Hi everyone ! Hope everyone is doing well today. Just wanted to talk about one of my all-time favorite movie, Theri. This movie is starred by the very famous actor in Tollywood which is Thalapathy Vijay. Thalapathy means leader. He is one of the well-known as well as the best actor in the Tamil industries. Hence, he was called Thalapathy by all his fans (including myself, hehehe). Theri is one of the interesting story written and directed by Atlee with Samantha, Amy Jackson and Babi Nainika along.
The story begins with Nivi (Baby Nainika) rushing to school as her father, Joseph Kuruvila (Vijay), woke up late. Upon reaching the school, Joseph goes to meet Nivi's teacher, Annie (Amy Jackson), to apologize for being late. The next day, Annie comes to pick up Nivi to school so she is early as she is always late because of her father. Later that day, they meet in an accident and Annie files a case which makes Joseph furious as he wishes to live a life out of trouble. Joseph went to the police station to withdraw the case where the inspector said he looked familiar. As Joseph was exiting the station, the inspector called a name which is Vijay Kumar, where Joseph turns around to see him. Anni gets curious about this name and later searched that name in Google where the image of Joseph as a policeman appears.
Flashback comes in, before 5 years with Joseph being Vijay Kumar, the actual name of himself as a policeman. Vijay Kumar is actually a very brave, strong and righteous policeman. Later on, he also takes up a case of rape and subsequently death of an IT employer named Raji. When the Labor Minister Vanamaamalai's (J.Mahendran) son, Ashwin, went missing, Vijay was appointed to search for him. Vijay later finds out that Ashwin was the rapist and tortured him like how he did to Raji and made it look like he was tortured by others. But later Vijay reveals to Vanamaamalai that he was the one who tortured and killed his son where Vanamaamalai swears to take revenge on him for killing his son. Vijay then marries Mithra (Samantha) whom he fell in love deeply with and later on has a daughter. Unfortunately, Vijay's happiness is short-lived as Vanamaamalai together with his younger brother Ratnam (Azhagam Perumal), and their henchmen barge into his house one night and kill Mithra and Vijay's mother (Raadhika). They brutally assault Vijay and attempt to drown his baby daughter, Nivi, in the bathtub. A dying Mithra manages to rescue Nivi and asks Vijay to take care of her, but not before making him promise that he will quit the police force and become a peaceful and loving father to Nivi, before dying in Vijay's arms. Vijay fakes his death, changes his name to Joseph Kuruvilla and maintains a low profile by moving to Kerala with Nivi and his constable friend Rajendran to protect Nivi from Vanamaamalai and his gang.
Now that, Vanamaamali knows that Joseph is actually Vijay Kumar and his daughter is actually alive he begins to plot his revenge again.
I personally think that you should watch this movie if you want to know the ending. HAHAHAHA. This movie potrays the importance of the role of a father in a child's life.
